1 The Application of the Reader’s Card

Readers aged 13 and above can apply for the reader’s card of the Capital Library of China. Teenagers and teachers can apply for the reader’s card of the Children’s Library.

Readers can complete the application procedure in the self-service machine with the second-generation ID card by himself or herself.

Readers who don’t have ID cards can apply for the readers’ card with valid IDs (residence booklet, officer card, driving license, foreign passport, passport Mainland travel permit for people from Hong Kong and Macau, home-visiting certificate of Taiwan fellowmen) in the general service counter or the general service counter for the Children’s Library with the help of the library staff (first time applicants need to have his or her photo taken on the spot for application).

Officers, disabled people, senior citizens aged 60 and above, teenagers aged 13 and above can apply for preferential reader’s card in the general service counter.

With the original ID card and the teacher’s certificate, teachers can apply for the reader’s card in the general service counter of the Children’s Library with the help of the library staff.

 

2 Passwords for the Reader’s Card

Please remember the password for your reader’s card for the sake of your benefits. Password can be changed by the readers through the searching devices in the library of in “My Library” section on the website of the Capital Library of China (http://www.clcn.net.cn). Password for children’s reader’s card can be changed on the website of the Children’s Library of the Capital Library of China (http://www.childlib.org).

 

3 The Change of the Reader’s Level

Upgrading: please do it in the general service counter with the help of the library staff with your own reader’s card (application form needs to be filled in)

Downgrading: please do it with the reader’s card and the original ID card in the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library with the help of the library staff after returning all the books and materials borrowed. If you do it for other people, your original ID card is also required.

 

4 The Cancellation of the Reader’s Card

Please do it with the reader’s card and the original ID card in the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library with the help of the library staff after returning all the books and materials borrowed. If you do it for other people, your original ID card is also required. The reader’s card will be taken back by the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library upon cancellation.

If the cancellation is required after the reader’s card is lost, the applicant should only do it by himself or herself.

 

5 The Re-application of the Reader’s Card

If the reader’s card is lost, please claim the loss of it in the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library through phone calls. The re-application of the reader’s card should be done in the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library with the original of the user’s ID card by the user himself or herself. If the guardian of the children does the re-application, the original ID card of the guardian is required. The fee for the re-application is 2 Yuan.

If the previous reader’s card is found after claiming the loss of it, the loss claim can be cancelled in the general service counter or the general service counter of the Children’s Library by the reader with his or her original ID card, the previous function of the card can be resumed. All the consequences before the loss claim should be undertaken by the reader.

 

6 Other Reminders

The level of the reader’s card cannot be changed upon receiving the card.

One person can only apply for one reader’s card and one reader’s card can only be used by one person.

The card holder should update his or her personal information in time.

 

7 The loss, re-application, upgrading and downgrading, and cancellation of the reader’s card applied in other libraries rather than the Capital Library of China can only be done in the original libraries by the reader himself or herself.
