This database is a newly built base of historical newspapers and establishes a new field for historians. The collection contains 12 English newspapers published in China, covering the time period of 1832 to 1953 and all of them can be searched in the same platform. These newspapers are of great historical value and provide comprehensive reports on the political and social life in the most unstable 120 years in the contemporary and modern history of China, including the Taiping Rebellion (1851-1864), the Opium Wars (1840-1842 for the first and 1852-1860 for the second), the Boxer Movement (1899-1901), the 1911 Revolution, the Sino-Japanese relationship during the Anti-Japanese War (1931-1945) and the Second World War (1939-1945). This database is of great value for promoting research in contemporary history, journalism history, economic history, religion history. It is easy to operate and use. The newspapers included are:
